Monday Matters: Hair Color

Hair Love

Hey Everyone! Happy Monday!
Today’s post is something I’ve yet to do on here, so let me know if you would like to see more of these!

Let’s talk HAIR COLOR.
So, when I book new clients or I have returning clients, I always like to ask them what their desired shade is— overall what do they want? Many times, some have no clue. They simply want change. I highly recommend that even if you, the client, are unsure, bring some pictures to your upcoming appointment. Now, these pictures can be of something you used to have & love, pictures you found online, or even pictures from a magazine… anything will help. Why you may ask? I have found that sometimes clients can be misinformed. For example, I once heard a client telling her hairstylist that she is going for that platinum look, stylist asked “are you sure?” and client didn’t hesitate. The after was shocking to the client… she was SO SHOCKED. She asked for platinum & she got it, but her idea of platinum was a medium blonde. See what I mean? Bring pictures & you will get better results!

Redken’s Frizz Dismiss Line – Photos & Review!

Hair Love, Redken

Hey Everyone! Thank you for tuning in as always! 🙂
Today’s post features my current obsession from RedkenScreen-Shot-2015-05-29-at-11.38.03
Redken recently introduced the Frizz Dismiss line and it definitely stands out. Prior to using this shampoo, conditioner, and smooth force lotion spray, I was only using styling creams and the shades EQ from Redken. I had used Redken shampoo years ago and found that the line I was using wasn’t giving my hair life. So I switched… I’m back now. I have been using this combo for a month now… this combo is giving my hair life. I have wavy/curly/frizzy hair and it is SO hard to maintain my hairstyle on a hot summer day in San Diego. With the Frizz Dismiss line.. it’s possible. Thank YOU! IMG_2038My review is all about the shampoo, conditioner, and smooth force lotion spray. These products are all SULFATE free. So, if you are one of my clients reading this, yes, this is color safe, so feel free to buy it and use it if you feel this fits your hair needs. I really think this line has a great scent! I washed my hair and after walking by, my siblings kept saying something smelled really good. Turns out it was my hair… the scent isn’t fruity, it’s more floral! Frizz dismiss includes Aquatoril which is a molecule that fights humidity and will lock in moisture. Nothing feels better than smooth, luscious hair on a hot and humid day! Let’s control our frizz ladies! IMG_2039 IMG_2041Pictured here is the shampoo which sells for $18.50 (10.1 oz) at Ulta.
The shampoo lathers well, smells amazing;
cleaned my hair and did not leave any buildup!
IMG_2042Pictured here is the conditioner which sells for $19.50 (8.5 oz) at Ulta.
The conditioner smells amazing and is really moisturizing!
My hair felt very smooth after my shower. Also world as a great detangler.
IMG_2043Pictured here is the smooth force lotion spray & sells for $22 (5 oz) at Ulta.
As the bottle claims, this spray is lightweight and that’s how I like my sprays.
My long hair was so thirsty for this… and it puts my frizz to shame.

*What I personally love most about this product is that it keeps the frizz at bay, yet defines my waves, which means that I don’t have to use gel or mousse on my hair the following day. If you like to apply heat to your hair, you will find that your hair feels a lot smoother and even if it is hot and humid, my hair maintains it’s curl/wave when I use the spray. If I don’t use the spray, my hair does not cooperate and I’m back to my frizzy fro… not cute.

PROS: smells great, lathers, cleans.. love the packaging.

CONS: can be a little pricy.

Macadamia Professional: Shampoo, Conditioner & Mask Review w/ Photos :)

Hair Love, Macadamia Hair

Hey Everyone! Thank you for tuning in as always! 🙂 Today’s post features 3 hair products from Macadamia Professional! I get so many requests for hair care posts & questions about what I am currently using, so I’ll shed some light on these 3 amazing products!

First and foremost, I typically like to change up my shampoo & conditioner every 3 months. During the winter & summer, I feel like my hair yearns for moisture and in need of some oils! For this very reason, I am currently using the Nourishing Moisture Shampoo, the Nourishing Moisture Conditioner, and the Nourishing Moisture Masque.

When it comes down to talking about hair products, I feel as though there isn’t much to say, however, I don’t feel the same way about these 3 products. I really like the shampoo and conditioner duo. As a hair stylist, I have tried so many different shampoo and conditioners, and many sulfate free shampoos and conditioner tend to be so drying, even after applying the conditioner.. but I didn’t have problems with this duo. I’m using the line for my medium coarse hair; I like to maintain my really long hair, and wash my hair only about 3 times a week, sometimes 4, but never more. The benefits of using this duo is that it rehydrates, restores and rebalances your hair along with moisturizes and strengthens… and color safe, so no worries!

I must say, I am in LOVE with the hair mask. The consistency is definitely thicker than the conditioner, which I love. It smells AMAZING by the way. Aside from wanting my hair to feel really nice and smooth after my shower, I love a good scent. I apply the mask once a week for fifteen minutes apply a shower cap, and use my blow dryer for some heat– added moisture. (It’s like getting results, but in the comfort of your home.. my secret to you!)

Overall, I most definitely recommend all 3 products– and remember, it’s never too late to change up your shampoo and conditioner duo. You’d be surprised at what magic they can create when applied to your locks! Like I mentioned before, I love to maintain my really long hair, but when it’s humid out, my hair will get frizzy. My hair is really clean after shampooing and extra silky smooth after conditioning.. and the mask is just life. If you have dry or damaged hair, the mask is really all you need, I promise! Hope this review helps & have a lovely day!

PROS: free of sulfates, parabens, and gluten. macadamia & argan oil ingredients!
smells delicious!

CONS: pricey, but amazing!

PRICE:  shampoo (10 oz. – $22), conditioner (10 oz -$22) hair masque (8 oz -$36)

Redken Shades Eq Haul & Special Before & After :)

Hair Love, Redken

Hey Everyone! Thanks for tuning in!
Today’s post is not so much a review– just a lil’ hairstylist haul!

So I recently visited my local Salon Centric in East County & I decided to go a little crazy buying some hairstylist essentials. I came across a section of the store where they displayed all the Redken products, yes, my jaw dropped. I had never used Redken hair color or the Redken Shades EQ. I have heard great things about them, just never used them on a client before.DSC00539I decided to purchase several, by several, I mean ONLY 8. I will definitely be going back to purchase more because they have at least 50, if not more. The shades that I picked up were: 7NB, 8V, 8WG, 9NB, 9G, 9B, , 9GB, and 9N.

decided to give the Redken Shades EQ a try on one of my friends.
This right here is the BEFORE…DSC00537And here, I have the AFTER. DSC00538
So far, I’m loving the Shades EQ to tone hair after highlighting 🙂

Tip Tuesday 💁 Vibrance High Gloss Serum |Created by Vanessa Balli| Photos & Review :)

Hair Love, Vibrance

Hey Everyone! Thank you for tuning in 🙂
Today’s Tip Tuesday is all about shine– shiny, healthy hair!

Vanessa Balli (^ pictured here) is the creator of the Vibrance High Gloss Hair Serum.
anessa is also a fellow San Diego Blogger, check out her site! (amazing fashionista)

As noted from her website, “VIBRANCE is a high gloss hair serum formulated with premium Argan oil and a blend of hair conditioning agents and vitamins that help to replenish moisture, protect hair from damaging UVB rays, reduces breakage and will never weigh your hair down.  VIBRANCE adds a clear shine to dry and dull hair while smoothing out frizz.  Our original High Gloss Hair Serum has a subtle hint of our very own fragrant blend.”

For best use: I like to apply it to my hair after I’ve washed it while my hair is nice and damp. You can apply less than a dime size to your ends and work your way up. I NEVER apply a hair serum, or any product to my scalp because that tends to weigh down your hair and make it greasy. So after you’ve applied the serum to your hair, you can let your hair air dry, or you can blow dry it smooth; either way, the results are AMAZING! However, I’ve also found that I like to apply this to my hair when it’s dry a day or two after having washed my hair. It gives my wavy hair such a beautiful form.

I love how smooth and shiny my hair looks after applying the serum– yet, it does not make my hair look greasy. I also find that it does lay any frizzy hair you might have. And let’s not forget about something… the SCENT! Ohh boy, the smell of this hair serum is just divine. I can’t put my finger on it, but it smells citrusy.. YUM! A little bit of this stuff goes a long way! Love it! It’s become a new staple for myself and in the salon.

DSC00530You get a 2 oz. bottle for $26– which I can assure you will last a while 🙂

PROS: travel friendly, smells amazing, does hair wonders!
CONS:  none.
PRICE: $26 (2 oz)
